Google's policy against more than one ad for the same business in one ad location, which also lists affiliates advertising against their programme's rules.
Unfair advantage is one of Google's advertising policies. Among what it doesn't allow, it lists trying to show more than one ad for the same business, app or site in a single ad location, and affiliates advertising on Google Ads against the rules of the affiliate programme they're in. Google's en-GB copy writes “programme”.
Since 14 April 2025 Google has run the top and bottom ad locations as separate auctions, and the one-ad limit applies within each location. Google warns at least seven days before suspending an account under this policy.
For an affiliate manager it's the policy that fits most paid-search cases, and it rests on your programme terms. They need to exist, to say what isn't allowed, and to have reached the publisher. A report under it should name the clause and its version date.
- Report from the ad, from My Ad Centre, from the Ads Transparency Center or with the Report an ad/listing form.
- Google's form links to a narrower form for an advertiser using a client's brand and final URL against affiliate programme rules.
- Reporting doesn't block the ad, so raise the commission with your network at the same time.
The guide to reporting an ad covers what to write.
