A Google Ads campaign setting that limits ads to chosen days and hours, or changes bids by time of day.

By default a Google Ads campaign can show at any hour of any day. An ad schedule narrows that: weekdays only, evenings only, or nothing between midnight and six. It can also raise or lower bids for particular hours rather than switching ads off. The schedule runs in the account's own time zone.

For a brand, ad schedules matter in two directions. Your own brand campaign may have one, so there are hours when your ad isn't there and others can take the top place. And another advertiser can schedule its ads for the hours your team isn't looking, so a check from the office at ten in the morning never sees them.

  • Look at your own campaign's schedule before reading anything into an evening gap.
  • Segment your brand campaign's Avg. CPC by Hour of day. A price that climbs every evening with nothing changed on your side suggests a competitor at night.
  • Auction insights splits by day of week but never by hour, so it can show a weekend pattern and not an evening one.

Out of hours covers how to see the hours your team doesn't search.
