Where it comes from

Desktop searches on google.co.uk through UK connections. Stores on our market map are searched for their name and “discount code” on a schedule, most of them every 4 hours, day and night, and for “voucher code” and “promo code” weekly. Any store is searched again when someone checks it and our last search is out of date: 8 hours for the name and “discount code”, a day for the others. We never click an ad.

02Ads showing your address

Ads showing your address

The advertiser accounts that, according to Google, run ads in the UK showing the store's web address.

An account you don't recognise is worth a closer look. It can be an agency or partner you work with, or someone you don't.

How to read it

Same name as the store
The account's name matches the store's, so it's probably the store itself.
Verified by Google
Google has verified who the advertiser is.
12 ads
How many of its ads Google lists.
Only Shopping ads
Advertisers whose ads for the address are all Shopping (product) ads, folded apart and not counted. A comparison shopping service places Shopping ads for the stores that use it.
The name
Opens its ads on Google's Ads Transparency Center.

Where it comes from

Google's Ads Transparency Center for the United Kingdom, looked up by the store's web address: weekly for stores on our market map, and for any store when someone checks it and the last lookup is over a day old.

This week in UK brand search

What Google UK showed on the brand searches we watch, worked out every hour, in stores and counts.

What a check shows

Visibility without the monitoring budget

Affiliate marketing needs more transparency. But seeing what's happening around your brand often means paying for monitoring. I'm releasing a set of free tools to help brands understand what's going on, starting with this checker.

  • Who's bidding

When a shopper searches for your brand or a discount code, who else appears? See the advertisers we found and the ads they ran.

    Searches per brand4
  • Ads showing your address

An ad can show your website's address even when someone else paid for it. See who Google lists as running those ads in the UK.

    RegionUK
  • Where your codes are

Checking each extension and voucher site takes time. See which of 15 providers list your codes and what each one offers.

  • Each ad as it showed

Take the detail back to your team or partners: who ran the ad, what it said, where it appeared and when we saw it.

    Ad clicks made0
  • Codes, masked

You need to recognise your codes to understand where they've gone. The first letters and length help you do that without publishing them in full.

    Full codes shown0
  • A place to start

No monitoring budget or account needed to try it. Type your store's address and the report fills in as each source answers, usually within 30 seconds.

Why I'm building this

More visibility for more brands.

These tools give brands a place to start asking better questions. When more of us can see what's happening, we can make the affiliate space more transparent together. How we gather and share that information matters too.

01 / 03

Looking shouldn't add to ad spend. Every click costs the advertiser money. We record who ran the ad, where it showed and what it said, without clicking it.

Why I'm building this0 ad clicks made
Recorded, never clicked
02 / 03

Finding a code shouldn't spread it further. You need to recognise your own codes. Showing just the first letters and length helps you spot them without giving more people a code to use.

Why I'm building thisSU•••••• the form every code takes
Codes stay masked
03 / 03

Evidence you can take back to your team. Each finding comes with its source and date, so you can discuss it with your team or partners and decide what it means for your brand.

Questions

Before you check

Anything else about your data, write to us.

Write to us
Do I need an account?

No. Type a store's address or name and the report fills in as each source answers, usually within 30 seconds.

Where does the data come from?

Desktop searches on google.co.uk from UK addresses, Google's own Ads Transparency Center for the United Kingdom, and what 15 coupon extensions and voucher sites list for each store.

Do you click the ads you record?

Never. A click costs the advertiser money, so we record who ran the ad, where and when it showed, and how it read, without clicking it.

Why can't I see the full codes?

We keep codes in full so we can count each one once and match a brand's own, but every page shows only the first letters and the length.

What do you keep about me?

Each check for 90 days, and your IP address only as a one-way code under a key that changes every month. If you ask for a report by email, we send that one report and add you to nothing else.
