Parameters Google Ads adds to the end of an ad's final URL when it's clicked, so the landing page receives tracking values.

The final URL suffix is a Google Ads field for parameters to append to the final URL: src=gads&cmp={campaignid}, for example. It can be set for the account, a campaign, an ad group, an ad or a keyword, and it can use ValueTrack parameters that Google fills in at the click.

It matters because of parallel tracking. When a click goes straight to the final URL and the tracking template loads in the background, anything the landing page needs to read has to travel on the final URL itself, and the suffix is where it goes.

For a brand, a suffix on visits you can't match to your own campaigns is a useful clue. If google / cpc sessions on your pages arrive with a gclid and parameters your team never set, such as a publisher's id, those parameters were added by someone's tracking: often a final URL suffix or a tracking template in another account. List them, note the dates, and ask your network what they mean.

Only some clicks covers how tracking fields carry an affiliate's referral.
